About the College

Chitral, one of the most beautiful and fascinating sites of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is located among the gigantic snow covered mountains towards the extreme north of the Province. Its present name "Chitral" has been derived from the original Khowar word "Chtrar" which means "field or a cultivation piece of land". The proper city Chitral, being almost in the center and easily accessible to all parts of the District has been chosen for the head quarter of the District. For a long time the city could make no significant progress in the field of education due to geographical barriers. However, a number of prestigious educational institutions have emerged in the area over the last few years. The area behind the main bazaar is a hub of numerous offices and educational institutions of well repute. Beside Govt. Centennial Model High School for Boys and District Education Office, on the way to Royal Fort, lies Govt College of Management Sciences, Chitral . Commerce / Business education is a globally recognized discipline of great importance. Keeping in view its significance, the Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has set up at least one college of Commerce / Management Sciences at every District headquarter. These colleges are affiliated with their respective Universities for graduate and postgraduate level courses and with Board of Technical Education Peshawar for Intermediate level courses.

A Brief History of the College

Chitral remained comparatively backward in the present era of Scientific, Industrial and Commercial development. To put Chitral in par with the other District of the country, besides other educational institutions the establishment of a Commercial / Business institution was greatly felt by the inhabitants of the area. Taking into consideration this just demand of the public, the Government setup a Commercial Training Institute here in July, 1977. In 1983 the college was upgraded to Degree level and affiliated with University of Peshawar. Later on to provide quality education to the students up to Master level at their doorstep the college was upgraded to Postgraduate level in 1994. Taking a big leap forward toward the development of the area the College initiated BBA (Hons) four years course in the academic Session 2008-09 and after the completion of BBA four years course MBA class will also be started. From the Academic Session 2010-11, the college is offering DIT classes as well.
